Kut Expat – A Short Film About Exile and Belonging

Kut Expat is a dramatic short film I wrote during my time at the Script Academy. The project explores expat loneliness, neighborhood friction, and the quiet emotional toll of feeling out of place. Set to be directed by Daniël Nogueira, the film follows a lonely expat mother who struggles to connect with her new community until a late-night confrontation with a neighbor forces both of them to face the cultural divide. With sharp dialogue and intimate tension, Kut Expat captures the emotional complexity of starting over in a foreign place.
